Whenever we get a warm day, we take the opportunity to do some outside work. It felt surreal cleaning out the coops and sun room for the last time. Many good memories were made here. My husband built the ChickShaw (Justin Rhode’s design of a rickshaw-style moveable chicken house) with the kids’ help, as well as a couple more coops not pictured here. The sun room is old and the floor is not level, but it’s been so useful to us! It’s housed our dog Hodges when he was alive, then our cats when we got fed up with them fighting inside the house (that didn’t last long.. they get main-house privileges again now, because CATS!), and it’s hosted several batches of chicks, ducklings and broody chicken mamas. During that bad freeze back in December, we moved our flock in here so they don’t get frostbite. This room also served as storage for chicken feed, kindling, boxes and other recycling. It’s now lovely and clean now, yay – I can tick that off my To Do list 🙂
